Sadness Is Not the Way Out

“Though He brings grief, He will show compassion,so great is His unfailing love. For He does not willingly bring affliction or sorrow.”— Lamentations 3:32–33

Sadness is never the way out, but it can be part of the journey…It may sound strange to think that way, don’t you think? But we all go through afflictions and suffering, and none of us is exempt from them. Even the Son of God Himself suffered and wept.

Sadness can benefit us when it helps us change our attitude, become broken and repentant before God, and seek the fulfillment of His will. It is natural to feel sad when we go through difficult times. But with the supernatural help of Jesus, we can face our struggles with peace in our hearts.

The great difference for Christians is that sadness will never be the final point. It may walk with us for part of the journey, during the cold and dark nights of life, but the believer knows that joy comes in the morning. God does not take pleasure in your sadness. He loves you and wants to help you. Trust Him and pour out your heart before the Lord. Have hope! In Jesus Christ, you have the guarantee of eternal joy.

With Christ, your sadness is temporary

You may feel sad, but believe by faith that it will pass. Believe that God can bring joy to your heart.Sadness can be a means for the believer to draw closer to Jesus. Seek the Lord!

Pray, weep, and cry out to God. Prayer and communion with the Father do not leave us bitter or distressed.Praise Him! No matter how difficult it is, worship the Lord—He brings relief and life.Have hope! God gives you strength and comforts your heart.Read the Bible. Renew your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. He is still God!

Prayer:

Lord God, You know my heart. You know that even when I am sad and tired, I trust in You. It is in Your Word that I find the comfort and encouragement my heart needs. Help me overcome the difficulties of life—I cannot do it alone. Above all, fulfill Your will in me. Fill me with Your joy and let it be my strength today. In the name of Jesus, amen.
