“…bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”—Colossians 3:13
Yes, forgiveness is a personal choice. It means letting go of the desire for revenge and refusing to “pay back” in the same way. Forgiving is choosing to move beyond what happened and allowing space for a new path. When we forgive, we release the past and gain a new perspective—both toward others and ourselves.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven. We are not perfect, but we follow the One who is—Christ. If we can make mistakes, why wouldn’t we forgive? Forgiveness is powerful. Through it, we are freed from resentment and from the weight we carry on our shoulders.
Forgiving is not excusing injustice or ignoring it. On the contrary, it is a brave decision—acknowledging that something wrong happened, yet choosing to rise above it.
We were forgiven first. Jesus forgave our sins. Our destiny was condemnation and eternal death, but Jesus chose differently—He chose to forgive us. He gave Himself for us. We are the result of forgiveness; we are free from sin. Don’t hold on to resentment—choose to forgive.
Let Go of the Weight You Carry
If forgiving someone feels hard, talk to God. He hears you and moves through prayer. The Holy Spirit guides and strengthens you.
Remember—you were forgiven first. Whoever forgives, loves and is loved by God.
Resentment keeps us trapped. It can be difficult and even painful, but forgiveness will set you free from the bitterness that weighs you down.
Prayer:Lord, I am a result of Your forgiveness, and I want to be free from resentment. Forgiveness is a journey—teach me how to forgive. I want to be like You, to love and to be loved. I know forgiveness is part of love—teach me to love others. Amen.
